The Association

Who we are

An epic adventure in the heart of the Valli del Noce: since 2009 we have safeguarded the history, language and traditions of our valleys.

Welcome! You are not here by chance: you have been drawn by the call of an association that for over a decade has worked tirelessly to preserve a priceless cultural heritage. The «El Brenz» Historical, Cultural and Linguistic Association, founded on 21 December 2009, is far more than a local presence: it is a true engine of initiatives, projects and partnerships that have shaped life in the Valli del Noce. Our commitment takes the form of concrete actions that breathe new life into local history, language and traditions.

A commitment to culture and language: projects that leave their mark

  • The voices of the past, the poetry of the present. We gave voice to the Rhaeto-Romance tongues with the poetry and music competition «Os dal Nos» (our voices). Ever since its first edition in 2014, it has inspired artists and poets to compose works in Anaunian Ladin, bringing together the different linguistic varieties of Val di Non, Val di Sole, Val di Rabbi and Val di Pejo. A true hymn to the beauty and identity of our words.
  • The calendar that tells a story. With the «Lunari dal Nos» (our almanacs) project we turned a simple calendar into a precious tool for outreach. Each edition explores a specific theme, making local history and culture accessible and engaging for the younger generations. The 2023 edition, for instance, titled «La nosa storia» (our history) and created together with a Basque comic artist, was even distributed free of charge in schools.
  • The documentary that moves you. After more than two years of research, we brought to life the documentary «Fiöi dal Nos» (children of the Noce), Ladin identity of Val di Non and Val di Sole, a deep journey into the history and identity of the Anaunian people. This work is not merely a film but a legacy we wanted to make available to everyone: we published it on our YouTube channel to reach all those who wish to rediscover their roots.

A network of partnerships and recognition

Our vision does not stop at the valleys. We have woven a dense network of partnerships that has earned us recognition and visibility, even in the media.

  • Beyond borders, a bridge between cultures. We have built a bridge to other European linguistic minorities, such as the Catalans and the Occitans, to share experiences and reinforce the idea that defending one's identity is a value that unites rather than divides. Locally, we work closely with other associations and bodies, such as the Circolo «Al Filò» of Denno and the «Rezia» Association, on joint initiatives like historical evenings and book presentations, proving that there is strength in unity.
  • Coverage in the press. Our work has not gone unnoticed. Newspapers such as the «Giornale Trentino» have reported extensively on our initiatives, including the release of the documentary «Fiöi dal Nos» on YouTube to make it accessible to all, underlining the importance of our research. The magazine «UnserTirol24» has also given space to our translations and literary contributions, as with the poem «L'incanto del bosch», highlighting our work in language outreach.
  • Events for the community. From dinners on historical and linguistic themes to evenings of commemoration, each of our events is a chance to meet, learn and share, strengthening community ties and celebrating together the richness of our past.
